Frequently Asked Questions
What do you mean by Clean Air Salon?
At Lark & Sparrow, “clean-air” simply means - No Plastic Dust Allowed. We prioritize the health and comfort of both our clients and our team by minimizing exposure to nail dust, which can build up and cause skin irritation or respiratory issues over time. By controlling these elements, we create a safer, healthier, and more comfortable environment; especially for those with sensitivities or allergies.
How We Achieve This?
Product Choices: We do not use hard gel, acrylic, or dip systems, since these require electric filing for removal and create significant dust exposure. We also use products formulated with low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
What Products Do You Use?
Every polish and system we use is at least “7 Free”meaning they’re formulated without the following harmful chemicals:
Toluene: A solvent found in paint and adhesives, linked to neurological effects.
Camphor: A flammable plasticizer and embalming agent, toxic even in small doses.
Formaldehyde: A known carcinogen often used in nail hardeners and polishes.
Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP): A plasticizer restricted in EU cosmetics due to endocrine disruption concerns.
Formaldehyde Resin: A synthetic polymer found in adhesives and coatings.
Xylene: A strong solvent that can irritate eyes, skin, and the respiratory system.
Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK): A harsh solvent that can affect the central nervous system.
By eliminating these, our products are safer for you, our team, and the environment.
